RealNear ("we", "our", or "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
What we collect
- Location data — if you grant permission, we use your GPS coordinates to search for nearby places. Your location is sent to our server to perform the search and is not stored.
- Search queries — the category, keyword, and radius you search for are logged temporarily on our server for debugging and service improvement. These logs do not contain any personally identifiable information.
- Usage data — we use Google Analytics to collect anonymous data about how the app is used, including pages visited, device type, and general location (city/country level). This data is aggregated and cannot identify you personally.
What we don't collect
- We do not require you to create an account
- We do not collect your name, email, or any contact information unless you choose to email us
- We do not sell or share your data with third parties for marketing purposes
Third-party services
RealNear uses the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:
Cookies
We do not use cookies directly. Google Analytics may set cookies for analytics purposes. These are anonymous and contain no personally identifiable information.
Data retention
Server logs are retained for a maximum of 30 days and then deleted. Google Analytics data is retained for 14 months per Google's default settings.
Your rights
Under GDPR and similar regulations, you have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of any personal data we hold. Since we collect minimal data and none of it is tied to your identity, there is typically nothing to delete. If you have concerns, contact us and we will respond within 30 days.
